Quite simply, La Cantina Doors OPEN SPACE. A large wall opening transforms the space and creates a seamless transition from the outdoors to the indoors. La Cantina Doors are also preferred by designers and homeowners for the narrow 3 5/8” wide European stile and top rail. With clean lines La Cantina Doors also maximizes your view as a glass wall when closed.

Yes. We have performed weather testing on our doors at independent test facilities. Air, water and structural performance results achieved mean La Cantina Doors can be specified for use in most areas. Please refer to our test results and consult with your architect or engineer. Important factors to consider are building code requirements, proximity to the coast and the type of building.

We take pride in the quality and performance of our doors and stand by them. In support of this we offer a limited 5-10 year limited warranty. Refer to our technical resources page for further information.

All LaCantina Doors are sold as complete systems ready for installation and include the frame, threshold, weather-stripping, doors, glass, hinges, rollers and multi-point lock and lever handle for the daily passage door. Installation instructions are provided. Materials for installation, such as screws to fix to header and flashing, are not included. The wood on doors and frames is unfinished.

We offer “made to measure” door systems to fit any opening. Large openings up to 52 feet wide with 8 doors opening in each direction are possible. Door panels can be up to 39” wide and 9'4" feet tall. Larger sizes and other custom options are available.

Standard overall frame depth is 5 5/8” wide. Wood trim extensions to the interior are available on request. Speak with your contractor regarding how your LaCantina Doors frame will be finished to the interior and exterior.

The standard color choices are white, gull gray, sandstone, and bronze. Custom colors are available on request as a special order. We can match most powdercoat or paint colors of other door and window manufacturers or custom match your own unique color. Your LaCantina Doors system either stands on its own as a feature or matches your door and window package color.

All glass is insulated and tempered as standard and we offer LoE glass for greater energy efficiency.. We can supply most other glass requests as a special order, including tinted or laminated glass.

We offer three different wood species: vertical grain Douglas fir, clear Alder and African mahogany.

All wood on doors and frame is stain grade and is unfinished so you can achieve your own desired finish result. Doors can be easily finished after they are installed. For best finish result we recommend carefully removing dropbolts and daily door handle and backplate. For sealing behind hinge leaves unscrew one at a time. Be careful not to get sealant on hardware as damage may result.

Please ensure that all surfaces, interior and exterior, top and bottom of wood items, are thoroughly painted, varnished or sealed within ten (10) days of delivery by acceptable field finishing standards. Protect door system from jobsite damage, particularly drywall and stucco work and keep debris out of track. After installation we highly recommend closing off your doors and covering the opening with a protective sheet.

We offer stainless steel, oil-rubbed bronze and brass hinges, lever handle and backplate. Multi-point hardware in door is satin chrome finish.

LaCantina Doors include a threshold that incorporates a bottom guide, weather-stop and weep system, and is designed to weather-seal against air and water. The threshold weather-stop is 2 1/8” tall on the inside. For the best transition we suggest recessing the threshold to reduce the height of the weather-stop in relation to the finish floor. Having the exterior patio lower than the weep-holes is required. Refer to the recessed sill section detail under architectural details.

We also offer a flush floor option with a bottom guide only, common for commercial applications. Installation with the bottom guide only is recommended for interior applications or openings without weather exposure. The flush floor option is not weather tested and no weather warranty is offered .

We offer only outswing systems as standard. Inswing systems are available as a custom order. Inswing systems are not recommended for weather exposed areas and weather test results are not available.

No. Jamb panels are operated with pivot hardware and open approximately 110 degrees and do not swing back against the wall.

Drop bolts are used both top and bottom to secure folding panels. Multi-point lock and European-style door handle are provided on configurations that include a daily passage door. Keys are Schlage compatable and can be re-keyed.

La Cantina Doors supply one style of lever handle. Handle styles offered by other door manufacturers may also be compatible. Please contact us to obtain technical information.

Yes, we offer both wood and aluminum clad standard hinged doors. Please contact us with your requirements.

LaCantina Doors manufactures its own products and standard lead time is typically 6-8 weeks. Large quantities or custom (color) orders may take longer.

We recommend deducting 1” overall from both the width and height of your rough opening in order to determine the net frame size of your LaCantina Door. We accept orders based on your approved net frame size. Or simply add 1” overall to the net frame size ordered to determine your rough opening.

All our door systems are complete and ready for installation. Door panels with hardware attached are packed in a door crate. The frame is “KD” and in its own crate. We typically ship common carrier direct to jobsite or to one of our dealers for local delivery. Door panels are typically carried onto the jobsite individually and two people are needed to receive the order.

We are located in San Diego, CA and generally ship common carrier outside of Southern California. Your crating and shipping cost depends on your location and the quantity of door systems and panels ordered. As a general guideline, crating and shipping is estimated at between 7-10%. All our door systems are shipped fully crated and insured.

We supply installation instructions with all our doors and following these instructions is required for a correct install and to maintain product warranty. Installation or service work should only be performed by a suitably experienced professional. You can ontact us to locate an experienced installer in your area.

LaCantina Doors are top hung and provide superior operating performance. It is very important that the LCD frame be secured to an adequate header that does not deflect down when the doors are installed or if there is any settling in the structure. The structural support required and header size depends on both the weight of the doors and also surrounding structural conditions. As an example, door panels 36” wide and 96” tall typically weigh approximately 110lbs each. We generally see engineered or steel beams used as headers. Please consult with your designer, structural engineer or contractor.
